LexHistory Talks: The Mentelles of Lexington

LexHistory Talks!: French ex-patriots, friends of Henry Clay, teachers of Mary Todd Lincoln, and namesakes of Lexington’s first suburb, Mentelle Park, Waldemar and Charlotte Mentelle were among early Lexington’s most colorful characters. Randolph Paul Runyon, historian and a Mentelle descendant, will offer an engaging look at the couple that helped Lexington become a city. Runyon, professor emeritus at Miami University, is the author of "The Mentelles: Mary Todd Lincoln, Henry Clay and the Immigrant Family Who Educated Antebellum Kentucky," published by the University of Kentucky Press. Lexington Public Library Eastside Branch, 3000 Blake James Drive (corner of Man O War Blvd. and Palumbo Dr.), Lexinton, KY 40509. 3-4 p.m. Sunday, May 19, 2019.
