The Double Cola Bottling Company was established in Lexington during 1939 by Mark K. Wilson (President), F. A. Watson (Vice President) and John B. Shannon (Secretary/Treasurer). The company was a franchise bottler of Double Cola,[1] with its bottling facilities located at 363 East Main Street.[i]

Double Cola was sold in twelve ounces bottles, double the size of the regular brands. The following slogans were used in promotions:
Double Good – Double Cola
Double Measure – Double Pleasure – Double Cola
Two Glasses in Every Bottle
Shortly after the end of the Second World War, the Koehler family acquired the brand and renamed the company Koehler Bottling Company. The company continued to produce Double Cola, and added Lemon – Lime Soda in 1947 and Kentucky Orange in 1948. The company ceased operations in 1953.[ii]
