The Ashland Dairy was established during 1933, by Clyde E. Buckley (President) and John H. Kloecker (Secretary/Treasurer). The company operated from 123 Rose Street, which was also the headquarters of the Dixie Ice Cream Company (which see).
Around 1940, John H. and Carl F. Kloecker purchased Buckley’s interest and continued operations under the Ashland tradename. In 1940, Carl F. Kloecker was listed as President, while Martha Kloecker and John H. Kloecker were Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer, respectively. The business was relocated to 348 East High Street.[i]
Ad – 1953
In May 1961, Broughton Farm Dairy purchased the Ashland Dairies, Inc. and Dixie Ice Cream Co., Inc. from the Kloecker brothers. At the time, the dairy distributed milk products within a fifty-mile radius of Lexington. Broughton operated dairies in Kentucky, West Virginia and Ohio.[ii]
