Bank of Kentucky (1909 - 1914)

A third Bank of Kentucky was formed in Lexington during 1909.  The bank was located at 210 West Short Street, with a capital base of one hundred fifty thousand dollars.  The bank immediately ran into difficulties and ceased operations in December 1910.  Joseph W. Porter, of the First National Bank, was appointed the bank's receiver and made arrangements to pay off depositors.  In July 1911, the Board of Directors reopened the Bank of Kentucky, after the receivership was dissolved.  The bank finally closed in July 1914, after several years of unsuccessful operations.
