Briar Hill School (No. 7)

Briar Hill School (No. 7) - a county school located on Brian Hill and Cleveland Roads in eastern Fayette County.  Around 1877, a two-room county school was located in the area.  In 1895, a new frame schoolhouse was built as a primary school (grades 1 to 8).  In 1920, a new consolidated building was built with two classrooms (for four grades each).  In 1934, the Work Progress Administration funded construction on a new building, which offered instruction for grades 1 to 6.  In 1963, four additional classrooms and in 1967 two additional classrooms were added.[i]
