Dabney, Edward Settle

Edward S. Dabney was born in Hopkinsville, Kentucky on September 13, 1897.  In 1929, Mr. Dabney joined the Security Trust Company as Assistant to the President and in 1945 became President.  After the merger in 1961, he became Chairman of the First Security National Bank and Trust Company and for the next seven years led the legal fight to consummate the merger.  He retired in 1973 and became a director emeritus.

Mr. Dabney served as the Chairman of the Fayette County War Loan Campaign during the Second World War.  Under his leadership, the campaign raised over sixteen million dollars (more than twice the set goal).  He also served on the boards of the Ashland Oil Company, Kentucky Joint Stock Land Bank, Berea College, Kentucky Medical Foundation, Frontier Nursing Service and Federal Reserve Bank - Cincinnati Branch.  He died during 1982.  Mr. Dabney was President of the Chamber of Commerce in 1946.
