Goodloe, William Clinton

1805 - 1870

Attorney and Banker.

William C. Goodloe was born on October 10, 1805 in Richmond, Kentucky.  After graduating from Transylvania University in 1824, he began practicing law before the age of twenty-one.  During 1841, he moved to Frankfort to practice law with his father-in-law but returned to Richmond in 1846.  In 1847, he was appointed the Circuit Court Judge for Richmond.  During the Civil War, Mr. Goodloe supported the Union cause and moved to Lexington.  Mr. Goodloe served as the first President of the Lexington City National Bank from 1865 until his death in August 1870.  At the time of his death, he was also a professor with the Law College at the Kentucky University (Transylvania).
