Jeweler and Brewer.
William Harting was born on March 26, 1833 in Germany and immigrated to America in 1854 settling in Cincinnati, Ohio. During 1858, he relocated to Lexington to establish a jewelry store and in May 1864, he married Jane Hillenmeyer (which see - Hillenmeyer Family). In the fall of 1873, he established a malt brewery on Paris Pike and around 1875 entered into partnership with A. Kroesing, under the name of Harting & Kroesing (a jewelry store). In 1881, Mr. Harting was elected President of the Lexington City National Bank, serving until 1883, when ill health forced his withdrawal. He died in 1887.
