Farmer and Banker.
Silas P. Kenney was born around 1811 and operated a large stock breeding farm in Jessamine County, Kentucky. During 1856, he was a founding director of the Agricultural Deposit Bank of Lexington and served for a number of years as a director of the Kentucky Association (which operated the thoroughbred racetrack in Lexington). Mr. Kenney was elected President of the First National Bank in 1874, in the depths of the Panic of 1873, and held that position until his death. He died on May 19, 1878.
