In 1923, William B. Loughridge, proprietor of the Locust Height Farm, established the Ashland Dairy, at the corner of Tates Creek Pike and Euclid Avenue. The plant was a wholesale producer of milk. In 1925, he changed the name to Loughridge Dairy and used the tradename Pastureland Dairy Products.[i]
In 1930, the dairy was sold to W. P. Fishback & Son (William P. and Morgan Fishback). The company retained the Loughridge Dairy name and sold milk products under Pastureland Dairy Products.[ii]
In 1933, the retail dairy was consolidated into the Bluegrass Pastureland Dairy Incorporated (which see).[iii]
In 1935, Martha S. Loughridge, wife of William B. Loughridge, established the Locust Height Farm Dairy, which utilized the old dairy plant on Tates Creek Pike. During the 1940s, the company was managed by her son, William Swope Loughridge. The company operated until after 1947.[iv]
