Insurance and Banker.
William K. Massie was born in Fayette County during 1863 and educated at Centre College, where he graduated in 1881. He spent the next two years in Missouri before returning to Lexington in 1883. He established McCann & Massie (with William E. McCann), which operated as a stock and real estate broker, and Massie & Sayre (with James W. Sayre of D. A. Sayre & Company), which operated as a fire insurance brokerage business. Mr. Massie was appointed the Secretary and Treasurer of the newly formed Fayette Safety Vault and Trust Company in 1890. After the merger with the Security Trust Company in 1892, he continued to serve as a director of the Security Trust Company until his death in 1941.
Mr. Massie served as the President of the First National Bank from 1906 to 1907, having been a director since 1902. In addition, he was also a director of the Lexington Water Works.
