Yates Elementary School - a county school opened in September 1954 on New Circle Road in eastern Fayette County. The school was named for Dr. Earl Yates, a member of the School Board. The curriculum included kindergarten to sixth grades. The school had an enrollment of 600 at opening. The facility contained 20 classrooms. Yates was renovated in 1984.[i]
